Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming audio production and media workflows. While AI can generate sound and automate processes, it cannot replace the human voice, lived experience, or the trust that radio builds over time.
This presentation explores the evolving relationship between AI and radio, with a focus on trust, ethics, public interest media, and community participation. It argues that AI should be used as a supporting tool, not as a substitute for human voices, editorial judgement, or social responsibility.
Drawing from the values and practices of community radio and public service broadcasting, the slides highlight why radio remains a vital social institution in the digital age. Special attention is given to ethical concerns, policy implications, and the need for human-centred governance of emerging technologies.
Prepared on the occasion of World Radio Day (13 February), this presentation is intended for community radio leaders, media scholars, students, policymakers, and development communication professionals interested in the future of radio in an AI-driven world.
