What is ARAL Program?
The ARAL Program stands for Academic Recovery
and Accessible Learning, a flagship intervention program
by the Department of Education (DepEd) of the Philippines. It
was launched to address learning gaps and losses,
especially those that worsened due to the COVID-19
pandemic and the shift to distance learning.
The ARAL Program is a nationwide learning recovery
initiative that provides targeted academic support to
struggling learners, particularly in Reading and
Mathematics, across public schools.
What are the Legal Bases for the
ARAL Program
• DepEd Memorandum No. 64, s. 2025: Guidelines for
ARAL–Reading for Key Stages 1–3.
• Republic Act No. 12028: Institutionalizing the ARAL
Program nationwide.schools.
What are the Key Goals of ARAL?
• Recover learning losses in essential literacy and
numeracy skills.
• Support learners who are performing below
proficiency levels, especially those in early grade
levels.
• Equip teachers and parents with the tools and
strategies needed to support remediation.
• Promote equity by ensuring that learning is
accessible for all students, especially those at risk.
